Step 1
You will sign up for the Bus class with the transportation office. They will give you the dates of the next class so you can get that schedule with your school. They will also send out a packet of information.
In the packet you will receive a Bus driver manual. There is a lot of information that you will receive on Days 1 & 2 of the bus class, so it would be good to get an early start and read the manual.
Step 2
During the 2 days of class lectures we will cover the below sections of the manual. You will receive study guides that you can fill out as we go along. We will take time in class to go over the review sheets during class.
Section 1 - Introduction
Section 2 - Driving Safely
Section 3 - Transporting Cargo Safely
Section 4 - Transporting Passengers Safely
Section 5 - Air Brakes
Section 10 - School Bus
Step 3
On the the 3rd day we will test. There are 4 test that include:
General Knowledge
Passenger
School Bus
Air Brakes
If you were to fail one or more of the tests you will be scheduled for a retest. You can not retest on the same day so we will have a retest date set and will let you know where and when that will be.
Step 4
Once you have passed all 4 tests you will then need to go to the DMV and get your CDL Permit. You will have to wait 14 days after getting your permit to get schedule for the Behind The Wheel training.
